An Unexpected Tip for Looking Your Best in NYE Photos
New Year’s Eve is all about looking back at the previous 12 months and making resolutions for a fresh start, right? But as we can all attest to, it’s also about dressing to the nines with your nearest and dearest to take some unforgettable #NYE2018 photos. For this time-honored tradition, we’ve turned to Getty Images entertainment photographer Nicholas Hunt for advice on how to have a photogenic night. (No silly glasses or hats required.)
Whether you’re ringing in the New Year with your friends or staying in with your S.O., Hunt kept it simple and provided us with one foolproof tip that’ll up your photo (and selfie) game. And all it takes to accomplish is a little bit of strategic styling. Pretty good news since we’re already in party-outfit-planning mode. Keep reading for Hunt’s proven strategy.
“Sequins will make your NYE photo pop,” says Hunt. “But don’t overwhelm the photo by wearing something sparkly from head to toe. Instead, pick one statement piece that will stand out, such as a sequined skirt, paired with a top in a solid color.
“If you want to stand out amid your sparkling friends, make your look more interesting by selecting a textured fabric in a metallic color. The light will reflect in interesting ways, giving your outfit and photo more character.”
